Smoky Mountain Flight Center Goes on the Road!

Smoky Mountain Flight Center is going on the road this spring.

On March 2nd and 3rd, we setup a booth promoting our mountain flying course in Nashville at the 44th Annual Tennessee MidSouth Aviation Maintenance Conference. This conference hosted over 500 pilots and mechanics in cooperation with the FAA's Nashville Flight Standards District Office. As a member of the event's planning committee, I was able to meet so many familiar faces along with many new ones too.

Next stop will be Sun-N-Fun in Lakeland, Florida April 13th-18th. We'll have our mountain flying booth set up there too. Come join us for some of the best airshow acts in the world! Complete details are at www.sun-n-fun.org.

Introducing Diamond DA20 N212DX

Smoky Mountain Flight Center is excited to announce the addition of it's first Diamond Aircraft, the DA20. This 2-Seat aircraft is loaded with the latest avionics equipment including Garmin's 530 color moving-map GPS and an S-Tec Autopilot with altitude hold. It's 125HP engine can scoot you along at around 120knots. This aircraft is a 2005 model with only 300 flight hours since new!

The canopy opens straight up and back to make entry and exit of the aircraft easy. You literally step up, stand-up in the cockpit, then sit down.
The cockpit is loaded with Garmin's latest audio panel, Garmin's GNS 530 color moving map GPS, an Icom standby radio, Garmin's GTX327 push-button Transponder, and an S-Tec Autopilot with Altitude Hold. It even has electric trim!
The interior is roomy compared to other 2-seat aircraft on the market. It's leather interior is very comfortable along with adjustable rudder pedals for your comfort too. Additionally, it flies by the use of a stick!

The view is absolutely beautiful. As you can see, the cockpit is slightly forward of the wing which gives you a bird's eye view of your surroundings.

I flew the DA20 for the first time yesterday out over Cades Cove. I couldn't believe how easy it was to fly, to land, and to maneauver. Furthermore, I got a little lazy too putting the autopilot to good use while I took pictures and enjoyed the view. Even as a 6ft tall man, I had plenty of head room, leg room, and side to side room too. Give us a call to give it a try or go online to schedule your checkout flight today!
Till next time....
